In contrast, the term “cosmetic surgery” relates to improving the appearance of the body. In this case, the body functions normally, but the patient is seeking enhancement for aesthetic reasons. Cosmetic surgery is always an elective form of surgery, while plastic surgery may not be as optional, depending on the issue at hand.
