How Long is Recovery from Liposuction?

Length of liposuction recovery depends on how large of a treatment area is being worked on. The size of the treatment area affects how much fluid will need to be drained. Your doctor may decide to place drains to help this process along for the first few days. You may also be instructed to wear a liposuction compression garment to help with healing and your comfort. This prescribed garment will make you feel more secure and help with drainage. In general, patients can typically return to work in few days after the procedure, as long as their job does not put much strain on their body. After two weeks, it’s important to make sure that you are moving and encouraging circulation in the body for proper healing. It is important that you wait a minimum of six weeks until returning to strenuous activity.
