How Do I Know If Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Is Safe?

There are many goals in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. Trying to look your best, without too much downtime, too much expense, and without looking too “done” are a few of them. My overall goal as a Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon in West Palm Beach is to provide the patient with a satisfying result safely.

Patients often want multiple procedures done to minimize downtime, and recover without people knowing they had surgery, but sometimes there is conflict. Safety must always come first.

Choosing surgical procedures with high safety ratios and less risk are my first choice. Some operations are plagued with high complication rates: like buttock implants, extensive liposuction, and preforming too many procedures at once in the post gastric bypass or massive weight loss patient.

Keeping operative times below 3 and ½ hours is important. Discouraging patients from staying in bed any length of time post-operative is also extremely important. An ambulating patient is less likely to get a blood clot in their leg. In addition, avoiding a bladder catheter can prevent introducing a bladder infection. Outpatient procedures requiring no hospital stay help to avert these types of complications from occurring.

Plastic Surgeons need to rank surgeries on how safe they are. We compare the risk to benefit ratios, and consider simpler treatments to achieve almost the same result. A happy patient is one who has a very positive experience, is a repeat patient and tells his or her story to their friends.
