Volume 1, Issue5 - February/March 2009

As we start 2009, patients are still very interested in looking their best, but have suffered financial losses from their 401K, decrease in home values and even may have lost their jobs.  How can people still justify paying for elective cosmetic plastic surgery when they are worried about their financial future?

Plastic Surgery of Palm Beach and Aesthetics at Spa Zen, know that times are tough
right now. That is why we have
put together the following tips
and created specials to help
you in keeping up your
appearance without
spending much money.....

Plastic Surgery of Palm Beach has analyzed the types of reduced fee, results-oriented services that can be offered during these special times.  First and foremost, the basics should not be ignored. Shop around for Board Certified Plastic Surgeons, who have been in business for a substantial period of time.  More than likely, they will still be in the same practice in 1-2 years if you need touch-ups.  While aggressive advertising has made some newer practices seem very inexpensive, but buyers beware, the value is not always the same.  Deals on the radio that sound too good to be true, usually are.

The first step in getting the most out of cosmetic surgery, while maintaining your preset budget, is to do the stuff that is free.  Lose weight!  Losing weight sets the stage for looking better.  If you can’t afford to join a fitness center, exercise on your own.  Work out at least 45 minutes a day, everyday, and try to lose ½ pound a week for at least 20 weeks.  10 pounds of weight loss, makes up for liposuction.  If you still want liposuction, less time is required, and the surgeon can concentrate on the areas that are hardest to lose. A non-surgical option, VelaShape can help you reduce inches and the appearance of cellulite on the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen. Patients at Aesthetics at Spa Zen, Plastic Surgery of Palm Beach’s Medical Spa in Wellington are absolutely thrilled with the results. The full package is just $1750.

When getting Botox® injections, try to use fewer units.  The forehead, glabellar and lateral eyelid areas usually require 2cc (50 units), try to get by with 1 cc, and come back 1-2 months sooner. Use 1 cc of Juvéderm™ instead of 2 cc when filling in facial creases and fine lines, and concentrate on areas that are more obvious.

Patients that want their eyes and a facelift done, but aren’t sure they can afford it, should start with a skin care regimen like Obagi to even out skin imperfections. Choose then to only have the eyelids done. The eyes are the windows to your appearance. In-office lasers treatments, such as ProFractional, smooth fine lines and acne scars. A combination of the above 3 can take years off. Look good for less.

Be smart, set a budget, and stick with it.  Ask questions when you visit your Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon. While the information may be a little overwhelming at first, the options are vast and can be as simple as a skin care regimen and Botox®, to minor surgery and non-invasive laser treatments. There is a plan to fit every budget.
